It's here!!! It's here!!! It's taken a few weeks for me to get all the details lined up, but I'm so excited to finally show you my Summer Capsule Wardrobe!
But first, I want to recap my Spring Capsule.
Honestly, my Spring Capsule was the easiest one I've had so far. It was just so easy to find outfits within the capsule that I could rewear with other pieces and still keep it fresh for over three months. I really enjoyed that. I also liked that I incorporated more color into each category! It sounds crazy, but the color brought me joy as I got dressed in the morning and felt like Spring even when the weather felt more like Summer (lol!)
On the downside, I can say that I did not stick to my capsule religiously like I planned. I did not anticipate that the items in my capsule wouldn't work for a big portion of my life. I found that I just did not want to get all dressed up on the days that I was working at home or out running errands. I've decided this summer that I'm going to create a separate capsule for lounge wear that goes beyond the summer season. I'll update minor details each season, but I'm going to keep a running capsule so I'll be able to easily get dressed comfortably on down days. Stay tuned for that post - I'll be working on it the rest of this month and will likely post it next month. Would love to hear your favorite ways to stay comfortable yet cute when you're at home or on the go!
Ok, back to happy things. Let's get into the Summer Capsule!
The most important thing for me when choosing the items in this season's capsule was to be realistic about the ways I spend my time, the places I go, and the pieces that would realistically fit into the setting. I knew that a bunch of fancy dresses and short rompers wouldn't be realistic for church and friend day-dates (though I did sneak a cute romper in there!) When I'm not working from home, I'm up at our church working there, attending services, and having meetings. Our church is very casual so I knew I wouldn't have to wear skirts to work, but I do want to look put together even in a casual setting. I knew I could wear a modest sleeveless blouse, a long-sleeve off-the-shoulder top, the denim shirt, and the basic tees with denim jeans or white jeans and a cute sandal.
For Saturday day dates, pool parties, and outdoor dinners, I knew I could pair any of the tops with cut off shorts or the mini skirts for a more casual look.
I do have a few trips planned this summer, so I'll likely venture out of my capsule to fit the occasion. Stay tuned for my additions for travel-wear later this summer!
The three jackets are to wear over the tanks when I want to be more modest or to warm up inside a chilly restaurant. It's always helpful to have jackets even in the heat of the summer because you never know when you might need it. All the dresses and skirts I included are casual sun dresses and skirts that can go from day to night.
I love the tan jumpsuit for summer! You can wear it over a t-shirt on chillier days (depending on where you live) or even pair a denim jacket and wedges with it to dress it up. The white romper is just a fun edition to wear on the weekend!
And for my favorite part, the accessories! Accessories are the single most important way to change up an outfit, especially when you're limited in your clothing items! All of my bags are either straw and/or brown because I know they'd go with everything and they're just so summery and fun. I'll use the bandanas to tie in my hair, around my neck, or as a bag accessory. Earrings are my favorite statement item these days, so I'll likely wear one of these pairs every day. You can't forget some sandals that go with everything, a summer sun hat, and cute wedges! I included the swimsuits because I know these two will be my go-tos. I might break the rules and wear some other swimsuits that I've got, but these two are definitely my favorites.
So, that's it! Let me know what you think and if YOU are creating your own Summer Capsule this season. I'd love to hear about it!
